Description
Qantas was founded in the Queensland outback in
1920. Registered originally as the Queensland and Northern Territory
Aerial Services Limited (QANTAS), we have built a reputation for
excellence in safety, operational reliability, engineering and
maintenance, and customer service.
Today, Qantas is widely regarded as the world's leading long
distance airline and one of the strongest brands in Australia. We
also operate subsidiary businesses including other airlines, and
businesses in specialist markets such as Qantas Holidays and Q
Catering.
The flying businesses of the Qantas Group are grouped under two
major brands - Qantas and Jetstar. Domestically, Qantas, QantasLink
and Jetstar operate over 5,580 flights a week serving 56 city and
regional destinations in all states and mainland territories (Qantas
- 2,500; QantasLink - 1,890; Jetstar - 1,190). Qantas also operates
more than 230 domestic flights a week within New Zealand.
Internationally, Qantas and Jetstar operate more than 910 flights
each week (Qantas - 700; Jetstar - 210). The Group's
international network comprises 145 destinations in 37 countries,
including Australia and those served by codeshare partner airlines.
